"This place is awesome! The service was super quick, and the food was really good. We got a tip from the Gucci store employees to check it out, and we loved it. The chicken curry and noodles were delicious, and they have cool deals if you scan the menu barcode. Definitely worth a visit!"

TLDR; anything but the tom ka gai. Fast service. One of the best of the few restaurants open late. So I remember very fondly when the first KoT opened on Clement street in the 90s. My boyfriend took me there and we watched in awe at the counter as an elegantly-dressed woman with two-inch fingernails grated the papaya for our salad while smiling and winking at us. They've always had a strong soup game. My favorite is the duck soup and I always get the egg noodle. It's probably the only place in town that lets you pick your noodle without judgement. They were the first Thai restaurant I knew of that made the fried rice noodle dishes like pad se ew, and they always have the most lovely wok flavored singe to them. Their crab fried rice is without equal. Don't bother ordering it anywhere else. You will be sad. But I must complain here about the tom ka gai. This is a simple soup that only takes about 30 minutes to make from scratch. In addition to chicken (gai) and coconut milk, it must contain at least lemongrass and galangal, ideally makrut lime leaves. IMO galangal is the primary flavor of tom ka gai. These ingredients are easy to come by in San Francisco, and there's no excuse for them not being in the soup, even if the tourists complain when they can't chew them (they're not edible). Oh well, back to making it at home.

This is my second time here and it is amazing Thai food. Service is fast, and we were seated quickly on a Sunday afternoon. The pad Thai here is very yum.
